About Family Tree Nursery
A modern garden center in the heart of Shawnee, Family Tree Nursery has grown a loyal community here since 1981. Family-owned and operated, we grow almost every bedding plant we sell at our own greenhouses, and our horticulturists scout trial gardens nationwide to find the best varieties for our tough growing conditions. Alongside trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, roses, tropicals, and edibles, you'll find one of Kansas City's largest selections of pottery and planters, curated gifts, home décor, and traditional garden center products. Our Shawnee store is also home to Café Equinox, a botanically inspired café serving coffee, local pastries, and more. Each year we host our Fall Festival, with live music, food, and family activities.

I visited for the first time on Saturday This is a hidden Gem Very pretty place, so much care goes into all the details, from what I could see. Live Koi in a pond to enjoy as well

This is my favorite place to get plants (indoor & outdoor). The quality is so much better than if you buy somewhere like Home Depot or Lowe's. The plants are healthier and, therefore, easier to maintain at home or to transfer successfully to a garden bed. And they always have a good selection.

I visited Family tree nursery today for the first time, and I was blown away. I have been a plant parent for just over a year. I never knew that such a complete nursery was anywhere near where I lived. They had SOOO!!! many varieties of house plants and out door plants, I was like a kid in a candy store. They had a very attractive variety of Hoyas which are my favorite along with Philodendron, Alocasia's sanseveria, and many, many, many more. The biggest selling point for me was when I was told " If you can't find a house plant let us know and we will see if we can find it for you. I once shopped only on Etsy for plants but no more because FTN is just 20 minutes away. No more paying high shipping cost, and having to deal with shop owners that gives you the impression that we should be happy to buy their plants, and they will sometimes send you small runts looking plants and refuse to take it back. So thank you Family Tree. Nursery for being there for me and closer to me. Go check them out, its worth the trip.

Family tree nursery really is the best! I love my experience in this store and in the store on Farley Street. The products are all so nice and I think reasonably priced for the quality. I have found a staff to be very friendly and helpful even on days when they were so busy they could hardly turn around without bumping into another customer. And then of course there are all of the lovely flowers and plants! To say nothing of the lily pond which I just discovered on my most recent visit. I always think of a visit to family tree as one of the treats I give myself visually and a nice little zen experience!
